Nov. 30, 2023 (Chicago) — Building on the momentum of the sports car racing industry worldwide, Sportscar365 has announced the appointment of Jamie Klein in a newly created position of Asian editor. Additionally, Davey Euwema has been promoted to the role of European editor. The two join U.S.-based editor-in-chief John Dagys to create a global network of editorial coverage for the industry leading English-language online publication, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Tokyo-based Klein, who spent eight years as news editor at Motorsport Network covering a variety of two and four-wheeled series, will lead the website’s coverage of the FIA World Endurance Championship, while also bringing dedicated coverage of Japan’s SUPER GT championship to Sportscar365 for the first time.
Furthermore, Klein’s addition will allow for enhanced coverage of other Asian-based championships such as Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS and the Asian Le Mans Series. His first assignment is this weekend’s Asian Le Mans season-opening rounds at Sepang International Circuit.
"It's a huge privilege to join the Sportscar365 team, especially at a time when worldwide sports car racing is booming," said Klein. "I'm excited to apply the experience I've gained at Motorsport Network in order to help expand and grow the site further and satisfy an ever-increasing demand for WEC content in particular.
"Additionally, I'm looking forward to continuing to report on SUPER GT as part of my new role. Since I moved to Japan in 2019, I've been amazed to discover just how big the fanbase is for this series, and I hope to be able to attract new fans to Sportscar365 with my coverage.”
Euwema, who joined the website in 2022, steps up to European editor. In addition to his continued on-site presence in the WEC, Euwema will also now spearhead Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS coverage as well as continuing to provide coverage of the European Le Mans Series, among other championships including supporting Dagys at selected IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship events.
Dagys, meanwhile, will continue to lead U.S.-based coverage, including an increased focus on SRO America with the addition of GT America powered by AWS to join Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS and Pirelli GT4 America coverage, alongside IMSA-sanctioned series including the WeatherTech Championship, Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America and the new-for-2024 Mustang Challenge.
Daniel Lloyd, who has been with the website since 2018 primarily providing WEC and GT World Challenge Europe coverage, moves on to a new opportunity in the motorsports media world. We thank Daniel for his six successful years with the company and wish him all the best in his new endeavor.
“It’s incredibly exciting to welcome Jamie to the team, which will allow us to have editorial coverage on three continents for the first time,” said Dagys. “Jamie’s addition will also bring his industry leading English-language coverage of Super GT to our audience, which we feel will further strengthen Sportscar365’s coverage plan.
“Having a global ‘news desk’ has been a dream of mine since launching the website ten years ago, and we look forward to providing more timely coverage of series, specifically in Asia, in the years to come.
“At the same time, Davey’s promotion will provide a further boost in our coverage of our core series, which remain the FIA WEC and WeatherTech Championship, as both championships continue to gain further momentum with additional manufacturer and team growth for 2024.
“Sports car racing is in excellent health and as we start our second decade of coverage, we feel that we’re in the best possible position by taking Sportscar365 to the next level.”
